I was having a discussion with my son-in-law about the things every
competent
adult should be able to do. The list includes such things as:

Safely shoot and handle firearms.
Change a tire.
Change a diaper.
Change the oil in a car.
Cook a meal.
Feed a baby.
Do laundry
Sew on a button.
A wide variety of simple home repairs.
