I use at least 2 backup disks. Full backups are written to each one, taking
turns. But before the full backup, a differential backup is done to the
other backup disk. It has the previous full backup, so this brings it up to
date in a few minutes. The total is barely more than the time of a single
full backup, but produces redundant backups that are all up to date. With 3
backup disks you would first do the differential backups to all but the
current one.
