I heard a lot of that from techs at AC and Delco plants, how the
company was cheating them by only paying $14 / hr (in 1975).
On the company side, the engineers all pushed bigger-is-better despite
the oil crisis of the time. My Civic was an oddball curiousity NOT to
be emulated.
