1. The essence of conservative ideology is that people are able to think
for themselves and make their own decisions. Just because you don't like
their decisions doesn't mean they aren't allowed to make them. One
consequence of your statement, which is extreme left in ideology, is that
military members would not be able to vote, nor presumably National Guard,
police, etc.

2. Actually, a part of your concept has been in place for years. Knowing
that a majority of military are conservative or Republican, where it can be
done local Democrat-controlled election boards routinely mail out absentee
ballots to military addresses at such a late date that it is impossible to
return them by the election date. For three presidential elections in a
row, my absentee ballot arrived at my duty station on election day eve,
election day, or the day after, too late to be returned before the polls
closed.
