The commode in my bathroom has started running again ... it will just
run a short time, like some of the water has leaked out and it is
topping off. I just put a new flapper in there about a month or so
back ... what else would cause this problem? At the price of water
here I don't want to waste any. Thanks.

Make sure you don't have an hairline crack somewhere. You could test out the
tank with dye and see where the leak goes. Usually its the flapper. On one
unit, I had to replace the flapper 4 times before I found a good one. Next
could be the flapper seat. The seats today are plastic, years ago you could
get a stainless steel seat.

And then you could get a Toto and forget the whole thing. I only buy Totos
now.

Before you put the flapper in put in warm water for 10 mins then
lightly hold it down to the seat of the unit this usaually helps it to
seat.

Make that warm vinegar. If there's any mineral deposits, they'll come off.
