Yes..but 'real' timber merchants are a disappearing breed. Most now
just sell softwood in standard sizes.

And most specialists in hardwood only want to deal in vast quantities.

It would be most helpful if you could kindly point me towards a timber
yard where I might be able to solve my problem. Anywhere SW of
Maidstone towards Tonbridge and Lewis would be ideal, otherwise most
places in Kent/East Sussex are accessible.

You could always try a Google search. First hit was

The sheds do stock hardwood mouldings, go & look.
