If you exclude Google, the providers have it under control
--no different than historic levels.

OTOH, try this: Send a complaint to groups-support@ google.com
and read the response.
Their attitude is **We're studying the problem;
we don't approach this on an individual-user level**.
(Read: Our business model is based on filtering data

and it's obvious when you look at the surging tide from Google.

The spam is produced by bots, not people,

Disagree strongly. Most of it is humans at keyboards.
A lot of it is from China, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

and there's not a lot that can be done to circumvent it really.

Make reports to the spammers' ISPs.

Google really should step up--but they won't.
Maybe if we all keep a thought about
the vice president in charge of Google Groups having a stroke,
he will and will get replaced by a guy who is like a pit bull WRT
spam.
I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not familiar with some of the lingo, but I think you feel my pain.
Thanks for responding.
