Thunderbird likes those n,k.... came from Netscape or Mosaic.

I have requested from the software type at Thunderbird city - we need to
killfile in a sense a news group cross feed due to hijacking.

Firefox is a browser. What you need to use is a dedicated news browser
program. I prefer a text-based news reader. I never have to use a
mouse. 95% of the time I press either "n" to skip the current article,
or "spacebar" to read it. "k" kills that subject. if I want to skip
more than one.
