Do you know what the median salary for a physician is in the
USA? It's far more than what is necessary to feed a family of
forty :-)

You just proved yourself the consummate village idiot.
Physician's in the USA average about $140K/year after costs.

1996 figures, 2006 the average is $230K, median is $226K.
That's after expenses.

Do you think that's enough to feed a family of forty ?:-)

In India, sure, in your colony, Iraq, definitely.

...Jim Thompson

Jeez Jim, you're getting slow! He stated "median" salary,
then, compares it with "average" salary.

I didn't compare. I just posted numbers.

Who knows what
definition of "median" was used in Bob's reported statistic.

Median can only be one thing, the point at which equal numbers
of candidates are above and below the median value. Average on
the other hand, can be determined many ways. (sum N / N,
min+max/2, etc.) Note that in any well ordered sample median and
average are pretty close. If there is a discrepancy, then you
have a distorted bell curve.

Stadistics can be a dangerous tool. BTW, in some countries,
140k could feed a family of 40 or more.

What's with the Canadian $ being on par with the US$ these
days. That's making my vacation more expensive!. Lousy US
currency!

It's gonna get a lot worse unless you stop burning it.

Agreed, and...

I work from home, as I'm sure a lot of the rest of us do, so my use
of petrochemicals to get me from place to place has been largely
eliminated since I can get from place to place online for a lot less
than 16 miles per gallon.
