That episode here about a year ago where I was "testing" a G35 was
truly "felony speed" (~100), but I was polite and the cop gave me a
ticket for 1MPH under felony (79).

What did you say to the officer? I recall writing a letter to the city once
explaining how I was sorry I had sped, but was dancing around claiming that
(1) it was accidentally (since it certainly wasn't) or (2) it wouldn't happen
again (since it surely would :-) ).

I was straight up with him. Told him I dropped my Q off in the shop
for maintenance and they gave me one of those new G35's to drive (a
red one yet :-)... Pecos was clear and I just wanted to see what it
would do... so I put my foot to the floor, and I was halfway to Desert
Foothills from 24th St. before I spotted the cop ;-)

I was properly belted and signaled my exit off the roadway... hands on
the wheel, window rolled down, handed him my paperwork and insurance
card... nothing to complain about but the speed... straight down the
limited access road... straight arrow at 100MPH.... I'm not exactly
inexperienced... drive the autobahn regularly at 135MPH.

In fact we discussed why this hard-on about speed in America ;-)

I qualified for "driver school", so no fine, just $100 for the school.
Now, in Arizona, you can do "driver school" on the web :-)
