What about my sitting room lights on a dimmer?
Very inefficient. Dimmed bulbs consume nearly as much electricity as
undimmed ones.
Dimmers are actually highly efficient. All the ones I have do a very
good job of controlling the brightness of the lamps they control.
There is a bit of a clue in the name you know - it's called a "dimmer"
switch not at "energy saver" switch. The purpose is to control the
brightness of the light not its energy consumption.
