Excrow accounts pay interest, though not much (maybe 2%). THe
point is that it's a place to start negotiating. The landlord
can't go wrong either way. What a deal!
Personally, if there was any issue I'd offer the six-months up
front. If the landlord turned that down, I'd seriously look at
other reasons he didn't want me living there. Perhaps I don't want
to.
