Default OT - The Gear We Leave Behind

This can be seen as an effort to reduce the military to only
those units with primary allegiance to the President and *NOT*
the Constitution/People.

Every few years some agency conducts a survey of the U.S.
military to determine how many would fire on American citizens if
ordered to do so. Every few years the results are that a
(declining) majority would not do so, with almost no reserve or
national guard personnel willing to do so.

The run-down in equipment and reduction in National Guard
personnel/readiness thus has a darker explication than mere
stupidity. In the worst case it may be deliberate and brilliant
policy solution to a problem.
