Exactly. Eliminating the income tax would be wonderful, revolutionary,
liberating, but in a time of enormous and rapidly increasing
government spending and huge equally enormous deficits, it would
probably require politically impossible (and possibly practically
impossible, since cheating would become too attractive) rates of
consumption tax and user fees.

Imagine income and sources of income being none of the business of
governments..
