| a good 2nd step would be for someone to write an "Idiot's

| the html is a better way to go if you can handle the size.

Read it all too many times trying to proof the OCR from the scans. What

did
I do wrong with the pdf? I'm open to any suggestions for cleaning it up

or

i apologize, i didn't mean _just_ the pdf, which is fine. the
origional text is pretty technical, and too wordy (imho). and
i didn't realize until now that you are the op. the html makes
it easier to use and refer back/forward.

no, great stuff(!), sorry for giving the wrong impression.

making it more "user friendly" except I'm just too damn lazy to go

through
the source doc file and bookmark every page. Aside from that, how can I
improve it? TK -- Cogito ergo bibo

hmmm, scans, OCR? it sounds like you are making work, or just
a couple of generations behind on the current tech.offerings.

wrt to the pdf, maybe you need a later adobe? if you cannot
see it on the screen, printing will only make it worse. OCR
is not going to help.

even with a slow connection, try to grab the html version.
sometimes you can just open it in place, w/o downloading
the whole file. that would give you some really decent
navigation tools. --Loren

It was a collaboration, one of the misc.survivalism regulars sent me .jpgs
of the book, I ran them through OCR (OmniPage 12), saved them in a M$ word
DOC file, proofed and cleaned up, and exported the whole enchilada to PDF
( Acrobat 6.0 Pro). Did the HTML version by export from M$ Word as well,
just didn't bookmark the pages to the DOC file, waited (my mistake) until
after the HTML export.

I'll bite, what am I missing?
