Default Understanding Engineers

A busload of tourists were lumbering up a very bad, twisty road, high in the
andes. One of the passengers wondered who ever laid out such a road. The
tourguide overheard the question, and explained that when they need a road,
they just release a jackass, and build the road along the path it happens to
follow. Then the tourist asked, "But what if they don't happen to have a
jackass available?" The guide replied, "Then they hire an engineer."
