Default Top tip for avoiding a trip to casulaty

At the weekend I took the ceiling down in one of my attic rooms in
preparation for insulating with SuperQuilt / Tri iso super etc. as I
didn't have a hard hat or any other specialist equipment I used an old
motorcycle helmet with a face mask, walking boots and riggers gloves. I was
filthy when it was over but no nails through shoes, no crushed toes and no
cuts to my face despite treading on nails, having lumps of plaster fall on
my feet and being whacked across the face with some recalcitrant laths.

I may have looks like a **** but it did the job.

Good man. Looking like a **** is quite normal for builders, I find.

I removed an old plasterboard ceiling from brother-in-law's kitchen recently
and near the edge a stubborn bit needed a good hoik to get it down. Behind
it were several loose half-bricks which had been thoughtfully tucked away
there by whoever put the thing up in the first place, and most of them slid
down the bit of board as I grunted on it, just missed my head and hit me
full in the chest. That was fun.

Some sort of medieval armour in future, I think.
