I am helping a friend.

Her kitchen cabinets are getting spoiled.
They seem to have white spots / white lines - some along the grain.

They run from top to bottom.

The wood is a very light colored wood (maple ?) it came with a gloss
finish. It about 8 years old.

How can they be restored ?

How can she get rid of the white lines and make them look nice.
Any ideas ?

Assuming the spots are UNDER the finish, she is most likely going to
need to refinish at least the areas showing the spots/lines. First
thing to do is discover what the finish is. Seems likely it's either
polyurethane or laquer. Polyurethane is very difficult to repair, it's
easier to strip and start over. Laquer MAY be more easily removed and
repaired, try a little laquer thinner on an inconspicuous spot, like
inside the door near a hinge. If the finish softens, you may be able to
remove the spots with thinner, but no gaurantees you won't need to
strip, sand and refinish anyway.
