I've been looking for a non-adjustable, 1/2" overlay Euro (Blum) style hinge
and not finding any that will work. Maybe someone here will have a source or an alternative idea. Some brief history. Several years back I did a refurb on my in-laws kitchen by building new doors and drawers. Also made 4 doors for their bathroom vanity that never got installed. Fast forward and brother-in-law decided to remodel the bathroom and accidently destroyed the built-in 60" vanity. Okay, so I volunteered to build a custom vanity for the same space. The old vanity did not have any drawers so I decided to include a drawer and a slide out tray in the left side of the vanity. Never gave a thought to the hinges for the doors I already had built and pre-drilled for the 35mm 1/2" overlay hinges. Problem. I built the drawers and allowed 1/8" clearance on each side. The face mount Blum hinges have an adjustable plate that mounts to the face frame. It sticks out 1/4" and obviously is right in the path of the drawer and slide out lower shelf. Looking for a 1/2" overlay hinge that only sticks out the thickness of the mount that gets screwed on to the face frame edge. I could: 1. Rebuild the two drawers and make them narrower. 2. Use a different style hinge but what? I would then need to fill the 35mm holes with some Bondo - cabinet is painted so no big deal. I know someone makes these flat style mounting hinge because I saw a 1/14" overlay hinge on a cabinet at the big box stores but they must not make it in a 1/2" overlay. I've Googled, Binged and Yahoo'd using all sorts of search terms and only thing I find are 1-1/4 (or larger). Liberty shows one 1/2" overlay but the part that mounts to the face edge has a bend in the arm that creates the same interference and it sticks out about 1/4". Thanks for any leads or suggestions. I have a feeling I'll be building two smaller drawers. Next time...measure twice with hinge in place. Bob S. |
