Yes, the last thing Google has become is "handy"...

I'd suggest going to one of the free news servers and a newsreader of
your choice. I've been using nntp.aioe.org and Thunderbird but there
are several other options for servers and a veritable plethora of
clients. aioe's spam filtering isn't perfect but is _much_ better than
google's (which is, apparently, none) and T'bird makes it simple to set
up additional filters with which it is possible to eliminate almost
all--I see a few new ones pop up occasionally but another filter quickly
takes care of them--at the moment, anyway, the ones that are getting
thru aren't the most egregious; they're continuing to use the same id
rather than an individual munging (which, I suppose is why they don't
get taken care of by the aioe filtering).

Just me thoughts...$0.02, etc., etc., etc., ...

I've popped in from time to time, but the combination of political bull**** and spam doesn't do much for me. For a while there, it seemed like woodworking was the last thing under discussion. All I did was lurk a bit, then head back to other territory. Age has somewhat slowed my woodworking, but from time to time I can get ol' Uncle Arthur under control and get something done. Supposedly, I've got some new kind of anti-inflammatory coming from VA: the PA says this one might work. It would be nice: I've managed to go almsot 60 years with losing my grip and slipping my hand into a blade or cutter. It is a record I enjoy keeping, but the arthritis can bitch it up if I'm not super careful.

Filters are your friend. I see about 20% of the total posts here
after filtering all the idiocy out. I'm probably too political for my

I hear that. I'm on Tramadol now. It helps keeps him using his
nickname, Art, and I have more energy now as a result. Pain used to
suck half the life right out of me. I still have all ten and plan to
keep them. I also have lost 28 pounds (trying for 40) and that makes
it easier to get around nowadays. People see me get up from a crossed
leg stance without using my hands and are amazed. g I'm pretty fit
for an old fart. Handymanning has its advantages.

I like him too, except when he's complaining about his newsgroup access problems.

I'd like him even then, if he was willing to take the steps needed to solve them. But he isn't.

It's at most a ten or fifteen minute effort. If you're not willing
to make it, stop complaining about the results of that choice.

I don't know what "ain't hot" about it, but I use Eternal September
all the time, free. No binaries, of course, but that doesn't affect
me. Works like a charm. (Right now I'm using GG out of laziness - I
haven't set up ES on this computer yet).
