The guy in this photo seems to be using a table saw with a sliding table, but why is the fence in front of the work?

Generally,it occurs when the piece you are CROSSCUTTING is wider that 3.5 ft. In that situation a back fence does not permit you to put the board in place without engaging the blade first. Move the fence to the front and you can get a full 4 ft. cut. What I don't understand is why he appears to be ripping a long board this way. It seems that he does not have a rip fence on the saw. He will learn when it twists and kicks back on him! |
