Lack of publicity? Did Fox News and talk radio go off the air since last night? You have a good point, inasmuch as CNN has fallen to 4th place in the cable network rankings. Fox even has a show on at 3:00 a.m. that out-polls CNN prime-time. Still, the major network news shows outperform Fox, so Fox still has room to grow. ---- Hey HeyBub - Mental constipation and verbal diarrhea are a disagreeable combo. Take it elsewhere. Now instead of dismissing my comments with scatological references, perhaps you could enlighten us with a constructive rebuttal? For your convenience, I've reproduced my original post below: --- begin quote Heh! Another example of liberals projecting what they hope instead of facing reality. I agree that the conservative movement doesn't have much traction right now, but I attribute that mostly to lack of publicity rather than paucity of ideas. Take health ca Virtually all rational persons agree that costs can come down significantly with tort reform or insurance availability across state lines. Both these ideas are promoted by conservatives, but there's not a glimmer of either in any of the five or more bills meandering through Congress. Interestingly, the GOP failed in the last election because, in part, they acted too much like Democrats! That is, they ran up a $900 billion deficit (the fickle public ignored 23 consecutive quarters of economic growth). Of course it takes a REAL Democrat to act like a Democrat - so we now have a $1.9 trillion deficit. No, the pendulum will swing back - but you're right. It won't be because the public suddenly embraces conservative ideas; it will be because the ideas of the liberals are so ghastly. I once heard a Russian "defending" Communism. He said: "Sure, the Communists were bad, but they were far better than the Cossacks!" Even liberals may come to believe that while conservative policies are not good, they're far better than ruin. --- end quote As for taking my views elsewhere, I'll note you did not offer the same suggestion to the poster to whom I was responding. I never start these political threads - I would infinitely prefer this group remain pure and unsullied - but I won't let pomposity go unchallenged either. So, if you agree with me that we should concentrate on woodworking, direct your advice to those who interject political noise in the first place. |

When are people going to realize that Obama was elected, and awarded a Nobel Prize simply because he is the polar opposite of Bush. Bush and his cronies destroyed all that was right about the conservative movement.... and all you now have left is the loonies like Beck, Rush, O'Reilly pushing the conservative agenda in the hope it might catch fire again. It won't, not for a long time. The Right Wing dream is rotting corpse. The remnant of conservative thinkers that still have some brains left, need to learn to edge a bit to the middle in the hope to pull back some of those who cannot and will not be associated with the nutjobs. You have been spewing your sour-grape venom and in the process adding insult to injury. That ain't no way to have fun, son. Your bitterness isn't very Christ-like either. Heh! Another example of liberals projecting what they hope instead of facing reality. Whatever happened to Compassionate Conservatives? One can believe in God & Country and still see the sense in 'managed health-care'. The fact that some 'liberal' ideas make sense, does not disqualify one from having a strong conservative base. That is the problem with the so-called Right these days. If one doesn't see things THEIR way, they are instantly labeled socialist left-wingers. Health-care in the hands of greedy MBA's does a disservice to all people. They simply can't be trusted. It is the fox guarding the hen- house. That is NOT a liberal idea. That's a fact. The politics of division is what is wrong. The way people get batted between polarities is wrong. They THINK they're being effective in the voting booth, while in fact it is always the same **** over and over. It doesn't matter who is in power. Obama's gang of thugs is just as nasty as any before them. (I suppose Bush really stood out as a buffoon, there is no denying that) So what did you just do? You disagreed with me on a certain issue. Your solution? Put me hard over in the left-loonie column..... that way you don't have to debate me. Because you are weak. |

Believing in one does not imply competence in the other. The fact that some 'liberal' ideas make sense, does not disqualify one from having a strong conservative base. Agreed. That is the problem with the so-called Right these days. If one doesn't see things THEIR way, they are instantly labeled socialist left-wingers. No, you're confusing cause and effect. It's the socialist left-wing ideas that cause the opposition, not the opposition merely labeling them as loony. Health-care in the hands of greedy MBA's does a disservice to all people. They simply can't be trusted. It is the fox guarding the hen- house. That is NOT a liberal idea. That's a fact. And the alternative, the government, is more trustworthy? And how does supervision by an MBA do a disservice? Virtually all of the 'miracle' drugs of the last 50 years have come from American pharma which is run by MBAs. The U.S. has more Nobel Prizes in medicine than the rest of the world combined, again from institutions run by MBAs. Over half the hospitals in the U.S. are non-profit, but they, too, are run by MBAs. Our current Secretary of Health & Humans Services has a master's in public administration (close relative of an MBA). The politics of division is what is wrong. The way people get batted between polarities is wrong. They THINK they're being effective in the voting booth, while in fact it is always the same **** over and over. It doesn't matter who is in power. Obama's gang of thugs is just as nasty as any before them. (I suppose Bush really stood out as a buffoon, there is no denying that) Well, Bush DOES have an MBA... So what did you just do? You disagreed with me on a certain issue. Your solution? Put me hard over in the left-loonie column..... that way you don't have to debate me. Because you are weak. Debate what? I didn't disagree with you on ANY issue. All I responded to from your post was a polemic: "... Your bitterness isn't very Christ-like either." There were no positions, suggestions, recognition of national problems, concerns, or almost anything else that can be addressed by rational discussion. To your credit, you did not descend into profanity or scatological references. But I understand. Eric Hoffer said: "A mass-movement can exist without a god, but it will always fail without a devil. It must have something to hate." |
