I set a question in August (08/25/06 I think?) about a workshop/summerhouse I intended building. My query concerned the measurements of each wall in an eight sided (octagonal) building. I missed the thread and subsequent replies, until I was able to 'Google' it today (wasn't aware group messages were kept historically! WOW!).

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to reply. especially those who gave simple but, successful instruction on how to calculate properly. I can now do the math(s) using a pocket calculator, I'm now able to see the 'smaller' picture! :-)

The project now has it's base, outer ramp for wheelchair, floor, walls and window/door surrounds in place, work has begun on the electrical issues. The suggested measurement of 1.675 metres for each wall as I believe Si and some others suggested, was correct, it provides a nice weather tight fit all round. Sorry for some confusion back in August, my base is 4.5 mitres square but, the building is 4 metres square. I decided on this measurement based on the fact sawn timber/lumber is normally sold in either 2.1 or 2.4 metre lengths in DIY stores in Britain. larger sizes are sold by Builders Yards/Suppliers or specialist Timber/Lumber Merchants. The measurements also allow for safe manouvering/circulation as a wheelchair user and also falls just within regulatory restrictions, that avoided the need to apply for Planning Permission/Building Permits. Pictures will eventually appear on alt.binaries.pictures.woodwork, with a history of construction, probably next spring, as winter is nearing.

Rather belatedly, I'd again like to thank everyone who replied to my query and I look forward to sharing the pictures of the completed project, just as soon as I'm able to finish it.
