This planer was built loooooooong before the Craftsman/Ridgid fake
horsepower wars, and as far as I know 7.5 hp was the most you could
reasonably get on 220v single phase. (Unless it's like Grizzly, where
you can get 3 hp out of 110 volts, but it requires 800 amps...)

Can you please check this one again? And maybe post a pic of the
motor's spec plate?

Found out he has a phase converter for it. Can be had for a song if anyone
is interested.
