Simple as pie....

You would think so. I am surprised Wegmans did not offer up the C-P
chain for sale before announcing a complete shuddering.

Home Depot was Builder's Square. It was reorganized in the early 90's
and divulged from Kmart Corp.

You're crazy. The only thing close to your theory was merger talks
between Builder's Square & "Homebase", I think was the name of the company.

I dont believe that the price model for Sears will change much or
hardley at all. In particular with the Electrolux line, which makes
garden tractors, is the same for for different stores. Lowes, CP Sears
and Wal Mart sell the same design under different names. Poulan is what
you may be familiar with. Craftsman is the Sears name of course, but
they are mostly of the same design, just different features on the
different sotre models.

And formerly AYP, & formerly Roper, w/ a very old tie-in to David
Bradley through the Sears connection... Product prefix 917...

LIke I said I used to work for Sears now I work for Wal Mart.I didnt
know that Home depot used to be Builder's Square

And you still don't. It wasn't. Home Depot opened as Home Depot. Period.

until I attended a
marketing meeting one day and the question of competitive hardware came
up.

Please tell us who was conducting that "marketing meeting" so we can set
them straight too...

Wal Mart actually owns about 40% of stock in Home Depot also.
My ex-wife used to work for Builder's Square before and during the
re-organization phase. My daughter works for Lowes in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.
I think we have an idea of the business..

I am sorry, but I think you are clueless on the Home Depot issue.

Kmart did own Builders Square; though they didn't start it.

A private company bought Hechingers and Builders Square and merged them.
They failed about a year later.

Neither company ever had anything to do with Home Depot. The founders of
Home Depot came from Builders Emporium; maybe that is what you are thinking
of.

I am sorry I missed the thread on Chase Pitkin. They were poorly run
company and deserved to go out of business. I spent about $2,500/year at HD
and $25 at Chase Pikin. Their loss might actually help Rochester; maybe
somebody decent will move in.

I will miss the "Lifetime" power tool warranty, though. I guess we now
know who's "lifetime" it is... it's C-P!
