Great Series on upholstery and sofa making.
I used to work as an upholstery delivery boy when I was younger.
I remember the men in the back sewing the fabric together, and tieing the
springs and such.

I'm in Tejas and have a delivery service that picks up and delivers
nationwideg
BTW: the seat cushions are spring and foam core with a down wrap and the
backs are all down(50/50 white goose)

Not really, and the "pinches" are pleats. That allows the padding on the arm
to be greater than the front panel.
The customer did not want any welting on the sofa, so it wouldn't make any
sense to put it just around the front of the arm.
Besides, welting(on cushions and arms) are the first things to show wear
hth
