groan/gloat
Spent last 2 weeks turning a order of large bowls and vessels for a new
customer. Total of 12 pieces ranging in size from 12" to 20" in diameter and 8 to 16" high. Also made 4 extra to use as samples for another customer's approval. I called the new customer to tell him that I would bring them to him Tuesday and he can chose the ones he wants. He said that he would probably take all of them! Also said that he would contact the other 5 offices of the company and see if they wound be interested in me doing some for them. The work is priced low but I still make a decent hourly wage but the benefits are GREAT! I get all the material I want free. It is fir, pine and plywood beams 6" to 8" thick and 16" to 24" inches wide. Lengths are 6' to 10' and each time I go I load the truck till it is light in the nose. Right now I have over 50 bowl blanks cut and ready to turn. Monday I get a load of fir from another customer to use for 2" dowels. These are a real money maker as they are turned on the Legacy so I only have about 10 minutes in each one and can turn while the Legacy runs.
