Default A bit of a test of vendors

Not too long ago on this group someone posted a note asking about
turnaround times for orders. The post specifically mentioned Penn
State.
Today I made an order to Penn State and an order to Packard. The Penn
State order was an order for pen blanks. (Normally I use wood that I
get for free but I had received some wood from them in a previous
order and well, heck, the stuff looked so much better than the Maple I
have here. The Packard order was for some pen kits and some
Renaissance Wax.
The orders were placed within 20 minutes of each other and I have
received the automated replay from each. I will let y'all know when
they get in.

UPDATE #1
Received Packard shipment yesterday at 3:45. The order was placed on
Monday and received on Wednesday

UPDATE #2
Got shipment confirmation last night from Penn State. USPS is the
shipper. No word on when the package will arrive.

Update #3
Package left the Indianapolis post office 3 April @ 6:00pm. While I
can drive
the distance between here and Indy in one hour, apparently the USPS
has
problems doing so. OTOH, the package may have beem sitting in the B-
ton
post office for the past 4 days.

Update #4 (Final)
Received the wood order placed with PSI 5 minutes ago. Seems the
inordinate delay was an error
in delivery by the post office . It was delivered to the wrong
place. I called the USPS 800 number and
after wading through phone tree Hades, finally spoke to a person who
said they would deal with it. I
assumed I would never hear from them again.
Well a manager showed up here, walked around the neighborhood, found
the package and delivered.

A person? A real person? Since when did real people work in service anymore?
To reply:
press 1 to leave an answer
press 2 to not really care
press 3 to have time to go to the fridge while waiting for the next menu
press 4 to have really tacky music bore you to sleep
stay on the line to have the automatic disconnect switch in before a real
person has to be disturbed by work
remember, your call is important to us, but not our reply. Have a nice day.
