Does anyone know if there are any chucks that will fit the g8690
lathe? It has a MT #1 spur center. Thanks Terry |

Hi Terry,
Oneway does make a 3/4X10 adapter for the Talon Chuck. You have to order it directly from Oneway. The retailers do not carry that size in stock. I picked up mine from them the ship promptly and at basically the same price as the retailers sell it for. I hope this helps you. Thanks Terry Terry, I checked the manual for the G8690 and it has a 3/4"-10 threads per inch - right hand threaded spindle nose. That thread size seems to be an odd size. Grizzly has two chucks that takes an insert for that thread size. They both are 6 inch diameter chucks (swing on the g8690 is 6 and 5/8") - one is a three jaw self centering and one is a four jaw independent centering chuck. Grizzly also has a two inch chuck that fits the mt#1 taper. Hope this helps, Jack |

Hi Terry
FWIW, I would get the Oneway chuck, they come with a separate tapered insert, any kind of size you want, and when you have outgrown this lathe, (I expect you to do that very soon) ;-))) you than can change just the insert and use your chuck on your new lathe. Just go and have a look at the link below, there's all the info you need. http://www.oneway.on.ca/chucks/index.htm Btw, lathes can be dangerous, holding that piece of wood is more important than having more power etc. and a good quality chuck will last you a lifetime, also it would be very easy to sell the chuck and get a good price for it, if you decide you don't like turning anymore.
