Info on Myford ML 8 wanted
Good day,
Years ago I was making scrimshawed powder horns for use in black powder/muzzle-loading. I wanted a way to make the loading spigots and plugs easily. I got a few parts from Woodcraft Supply which was then located only in Woburn, MA. I bought an ML8 headstock, the tool rest assembly, outboard assembly, the motor mount, and a Collet Chuck which I believe was made by Handy or Handi in England. I never did assemble the lathe so it has laid around in boxes. I want to use the collet chuck on my Jet 1" x 8 TPI lathe. I believe that the chuck that I have is 1" x 12 TPI? I know that there are some headstock thread conversions out there but I don't recall anyone offering the RH 1" x 12 TPI to 1" x 8 TPI size. Is there anyonew out there that knows of anyone making a production conversionb adapter or anyone with a metal lathe who can make one? Do anyone have any idea of what the Myfords parts that I have might be worth? The headstock, Motor Mount assembly, inboard and outboard tool rests? Again these are like new except for some dust and minor storage shopwear. Never used. These are the grey finished models. Thank you very much. Jim Casey |

With the advent of the scroll chuck, the old collet-type have faded fast in the larger versions. Not sure you'd gain value, or even good use by getting a converter over a new chuck. |

I guess that I have just longed off and on over the past 30 years,
since I got it, that I have a burning hankering to use it. I have a Vicmarc chuck and love it but I would just like to try using the collet chuck too. Thanks so much for your answering my post!!! This was my first one and I have no idea why it seems to have been lisated three times! Jim Casey |
