Default Artex patches: need to seal prior to painting

I have been using a wallpaper steamer and some of the artex round the
edges of my kitchen ceiling has peeled off. We are talking cosmetic, 3
inch x 1 inch patches.

I plan to patch these up using a pot of ready-mixed Artex.

Question: Once the Arted has dried can I then emulsion over? Or do I
have to "seal" the new Artex patches with a coat of diluted emulsion
first?

I'd certainly seal them. I repainted an Artex ceiling which I assumed
had been painted before, but which clearly hadn't: it just drank
emulsion on me. (It took 4 -- or 5? I can't remember now -- coats to
get any sort of even coverage on the $"&*£% thing.)

I learned my lesson, and the next time I did a ceiling (same house;
assumed the same problem), I sealed it with 5-to-1 diluted PVA and it
was entirely happy with two coats.
