Default Secondary double glazing - recommendations?

Would be grateful for any recommendations for any suppliers of secondary
dbl glazing, or of decent d-i-y kits to do the same. Seems to be much
less demand for them now than a few years ago, presumably because
everyone except me's fitted luvverly replacement uPVC dbl glazed units
now! But I like my draughty old leaded windows and want to keep them...

Just got a quote for a standard ally 2-panel window for the bathroom,
about 1 m2 for 180 GBP which staggered me a bit (more than the cost of a
full dg window!)

Thanks
David

My mum has really good unobtrusive secondary glazing. It consists of a
magnetic strip fixed around the window which can be painted so its not
noticed, then a sheet of clear ?acrylic? with a metal tape around the
edge. In winter she offers one to the other and 'ping' it is in
position. In summer she hides it in a cupboard

She got hers at some closing down sale, but I think the same thing is
sold by www.stormwindows.co.uk at a price. If you find a cheaper
dealer of the same, then please let me know cos I will be in the
market for the same stuff sometime next year

As it happens I found stormwindows yesterday and asked for a quote -
came in at 380 GBP - holey moley! Admittedly for a very nice looking
glass/aluminium affair, but even so.

May need to revise my hopes and expectations I think.

Hi,

Abel Magnets do a kit for the magnetic tape and steel strip:

http://www.magnetic-paper.com/shop.asp?ID=10

For the glazing some plastic sheet suppliers offer a cutting service,
C&A supply might be worth a try:

http://www.casupply.co.uk/index.html

cheers,
Pete.
