That was the heading on a message posted on a local
website. Not a Hoover Hoover, but a Dyson Hoover.

Seven replies recommending local firms (no mention of
Dyson Hoovers though) including this gem

I know he repairs Dysons because there are always loads in his shop
when I have been there.

On a webside for Lanzarote someone was asking where they could get a Henry
Hoover. I suggested asking for a Henry Vacuum Cleaner may be more
understandable to a Spanish shop. I was met by abuse!

mine only does dysons and henrys. Largely because die-soons are
expensive so a £70 bill is acceptable, and Numatics are so simple that
you can refurb one in half an hour.

Yes, my father installed cyclone dust extraction systems through the
1950s and 1960s, he didn't think they were particularly innovative.
I guess the Dyson patents were for some sort of enhancement, maybe
something which made it easier to make small cyclones?


His ballbarrow was an innovative idea though - less likely to sink into
soft ground and less likely to tip over when maneuvering.

However, after a few years of "what a good idea" they seem to have
stopped being made, presumably because they aren't actually all that
good.

There are because no domestic cleaners use a true vacuum (like in 'the
vacuum of space'), they use 'suction' that at best causes a pressure
drop / partial vacuum, along (often) with vibration / physical
aggravation (or even cleaning fluids). ;-)

Probably both. There's very good parts availability, both from Dyson
themselves and on the aftermarket (plus plenty of used ones to buy and part
out). Whereas you might get an Electrolux in and then not see another one
for ages - not worth keeping the parts in stock.

My Morphy Richards Bulldog vac (looks like a Henry)
imploded a few days ago. Luckily I only had one more
bag for it and they are now unobtanium.

Whenever the hose kinks the lid visibly dips as the
internal pressure drops. Finally the lid imploded
and fired plastic shrapnel all around.

Pity, it had a variable speed and was very good at
picking up DIY debris.
