I bought a keston celcius boiler last year based partly on
recommendations on this newsgroup. On the whole I like the boiler, BUT have to say that I would not recommend it to anyone now. My boiler failed due to a manufacturing defect after some 14 months use. The control board failed. I phoned Keston and they were very helpful. They said that they would only charge me if the fault was external to the boiler. So I asked for an engileer to come, and one duly came out. Engineer was excellent and fixed the boiler and clearly knew his stuff. HOWEVER 3 months after the visit I get a bill from Keston for £70 callout charge, £60 labour plus VAT. They have graciously given me the new control PCB free! Despite my letters to them stating that I never agreed to this charge (since on the phone call to them they said they would only charge if the fault was external, which I accepted as that was fair.) They insist that I pay this extortionate bill. I feel that a quality boiler like Keston celcius 25 should last longer than 14 months. I feel that if one should fail within such a comparatively short period of time then Keston should , like most manufactures of quality goods, allow some leeway in their warrenty. Anyway, rant over. If you are considering a new boiler, pick a different make. Richard |
