Pine Floorboards Finishing

I'm after a mid-sheen with slightly darker look than unfinished pine. Thanks. The only good finish is a clear varnish. Some stain can be orangey. Any colour in the finish shows up badly where it chips - and it will on pine flooring. Whatever colour you want you can't have in the sense that pine changes over years from white to brown. Once it browns it only looks good if it's unstained, otherwise it's dark & characterless. I stained ordinary white wood skirting- which I suppose many would call pine - to match real oak flooring. Then varnished it. Still looks good some years down the line. -- *No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, purple Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |
