Garden electric vacuum
This is driving me potty. I want a garden electric vacuum, but i can
only find vacuum/blowers. The problem with these is that they do not have a dedicated vacuum. So when vacuum the blower is still operational so I spend a inordinate amount of time chasing the leaves around the garden. Can some kind person point me to a dedicated garden vacuum please? |

We have 2 oak trees in the garden, and use the rotary mower with the height set high to vacuum the leaves up. Works a treat. Have tried leaf suckers in the past but they always seem to get clogged up and need emptying forever. |

Can some kind person point me to a dedicated garden vacuum please? I don't understand. I can't see how it can suck and blow at the same time through the one pipe. Balanced flue? Although I don't have one, my late mother had a Flymo vacuum/blower (before that she simply used the domestic Hoover on the lawn!). There was an internal flap that was changed over from suck to blow by pulling a string to move the flap. On suck, the leaves were directed into a coarse-woven bag. Is yours something like that? If so, is it properly moving over from one position to the other, or does it stick half way? -- "Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. I take on board what everyone says, but why is there a switch to move from vacuum to blow, it seems to do nothing! n my old Flymo there is a 3-position setting at the end of the nozzle - vacuum, blow, and vacuum/blow. In the latter position, there is a thin jet directed forward to loosen leaves and "blow" them into the air a little so they can be sucked by the vacuum into the collection bag (via a shredding "strimmer" just before the collection bag). I assume modern versions can do the same thing. -- Jeff |

Tim VonHaus 2500105 3000W leaf blower Well if it's like this one https://www.domu.co.u k/vonhaus-leaf-blower it seems fairly obvious that with the switch in one position (probably vertical), no air will go down the "blow pipe" and it will work in suction mode only with the air from the fan passing into and through the bag. With the switch in the other position, air from the fan will pass through the blow pipe but the suction pipe will still suck by the look of things. If yours doesn't behave like that then I'd guess that there's something wrong with the switch over valve. Tim -- |

If yours doesn't behave like that then I'd guess that there's something wrong with the switch over valve. Tim I'm thinking much the same. Looking at all the images and hovering over them to get the enlarged view, it looks like you get suction when the orange lever is vertical, and blowing when it's at 45°. I'm assuming the wider tube is suction, the narrower tube blows. It seems that there is meant to be some blow even when the suction is active, Not sure how you can infer that. Looks like a simple switchable diverter valve to send air (+ mulched leaves) into the bag (with the blow tube closed off) or to send air down the blow tube. so that leaves are lifted off the ground for the suck to get hold of them. If the blow on yours is too strong, perhaps there's leaf debris caught up in the changeover valve stopping it working properly. Not impossible that it always sends some down the blower tube I suppose but its obviously sending far too much. Tim -- Please don't feed the trolls |

All the blower vacs I have seen send air down the blow tube all the time, the flap on the end then redirects it back up the suck tube and into the collector bag. The "suck" being generated by the air going back up the tube. If you don't do this you end up with stuff going through the fan and it breaks. There are some that have additional air outlets at the end to assist getting wet stuff off the ground and into the suck pipe. They usually have a valve to control it. |
