Default Ancient solar MSF Casio watch - fixed.

Back in September, I mentioned my watch's analogue display was
sometimes loosing time, but the digital side was always correct. The
battery charge state always indicated its solar charged battery was
fully charged, so I wasn't convinced that its rechargeable battery was
failing. Rather I thought it might be the mechanicals failing - It is
around 10 years old.

The other morning I noticed when putting the watch on, that none of the
hands were moving, then after a few seconds exposure to light they
began moving. Obviously symptoms of a failing battery, so new
rechargeable battery ordered and fitted a couple of days ago.

All seems to be well now, it is back to keeping its usual perfect time.

my Casio waveceptor watch just died.....first the second hand stopped then
everything....I even paid £5 for the rubber ring seal when I changed the
battery...probably didn't fit it properly....had a lot of trouble with water
ingress with watches......you can have it if you think you could get it
going.....I know you are good at fixing water damaged things Harry .....

When re-fitting the back cover, you are supposed to smear silicon
grease around the seal. I never take mine off, even in the bath and
never had a problem.

If you really don't want it, I enjoy fixing things - pop it down here
Jim please.

Obviously did not manage to source enough current for the gadget that moves
the hands I suppose. How is this done I wonder?

It has a four stage power remaining meter. As the battery runs down, it
switches off its various functions - but my watch always indicated a
full charge when I checked, which was why I was puzzled.

Level 1 (highest charge) and 2 everything works normally.
Level 3 it disables MSF reception, hourly time signal, illumination,
display and hand movement - though time is still maintained.
Level 4 It shuts the whole watch down, all your customs settings are
lost, but for ability to recharged.
