She said that she will see me soon - you have to know women and I live with 3 of them.

I bought a 156 new for £17000, got 130000 miles out of it in 11 years at a cost of £1545 pa.

I bought a 4-yo Astra F 1.6 petrol estate in 2003 with 40K miles.
Paid £5000 and sold it for £150 with a new MOT Oct 2015 with 84K
miles covered.

All I had to replace in 13 years were the rear shockers (my fault
for not keeping the air suspension pressurised), a broken
front spring in June 2015, two front tyres, one battery and
normal servicing. The cheapo new tyres that were fitted in
2003 still had 6 mm of tread on the rears after 13 years.

Got 40 mpg on a run, and it never ever broke down.
Carted loads and loads of paving stones, cement, ballast,
bricks and other DIY stuff in those 13 years.

If I had a car that cost me £1500 in one year it would get shot
of it, quick.

A few, like the oil feed, were design faults that we ironed out over
the last 10 years, or so.

For what you paid you could have had a Grandeur, and
still saved heaps and had no repairs at all in the 12 years
except the car crash which presumably the insurance paid for.

No - I paid it to keep my 40 yrs no claims bonus.

If you check the way insurance companies generate quotes,
the maximum discount occurs after 10 years NCD, and then
quotations seem to increase.

No company gives any more than the maximum NCD.

Why the **** would they charge more for 40 years than 10 years? It
remains precisely the same.

AGE !!. And I have an AA renewal quote which actually shows how
the NCD discount is reduced from 10 years NCD onwards. Not a lot,
but for some reason it is progressively reduced.

Bloody hell. I had two 156s and much as I loved them, there's no

My ex-workmate shelled out £2000 for new injectors for his diesel
Peugeot.

You've ****ed 10 times as much as that against the wall on yours.

Talking of which, 5 pints of beer a night at £3 a pint for the same
period, 2011-2016, is £27375 --- more than a new 159.

Only a fool pays anything like that for a pint of beer and only
a fool pours 5 pints a night down their throat every night too.

You have to get blind drunk every day to **** your body.

Wrong, as always.

nope. Just 2 or 3 pints a day, or a bottle of wine a day and *some*
people develop irreversible liver damage.

Not luck, just common sense.

You can predict share prices? If so you don't need a job.

I want a job where I mix with real people, keep my body and mind active and earn real cash, not shoving imaginary money around on a computer screen.

You surprise me, you seem to have enough hobbies to fill your time without having to work.
