I don't think that the EU has a "romanticised" view of the future.
In fact the Commission seem very uncertain about the present,
let alone the future.
Of course it is sometimes better to be uncertain
if in fact the situation does not warrant certainty,
as eg is the case with Syria/Libya/Iraq, etc.

If you wanted certainty you could always rely on Trump.

I have an odd feeling that Trump will be the next president

Bet he isnt and that Hitlary gets the job instead.

and will actually be quite good.

Unlikely that he will be able to get a damned thing thru Congress.

Fortunately the US prez can do sweet **** all except posture.

Behind the populist rhetoric the man cannot be a total idiot...

He must be with that line that he will force Mexico
to pay for the wall between Mexico and the US.

although he does play fast and loose with the bankruptcy laws ;-)

I tend to agree. Trump is actually the Democrat's secret weapon. If they'd
chosen (or do choose) a more reasonable candidate, I'd have said the
Republicans would win.

Unless you really think the majority of those voting are rednecks.

There's a remarkable similarity between Trump and Farage. Say the sorts of
things that get them publicity, but only those with less than one brain
cell actually vote for them. As sensible people know they can't implement
1% of the things they promise in practice.

Given the nomination, Trump will defeat Clinton. No other
candidate can do so.

You're lying through your teeth as usual.

Farage did resign, just that his resignation was unanimously rejected by
the national executive committee members.

There's a surprise.
C'mon Wodney, give it up, everyone knows you're a prick.

Farage did resign, just that his resignation was unanimously rejected by
the national executive committee members.

We'll see...

Farage did resign, just that his resignation was unanimously rejected by
the national executive committee members.

He was free to ignore that and have nothing to do with UKIP ever again.

Says rather a lot about what he thinks of the rights of the individual. He
wants to go, but his boss won't let him. Most would call that slavery.

Nope.

He wants to go,

Like hell he does.

Those aren't his boss. Three guesses who appointed them.

Most would call that slavery.

I don't think he was contracted to stay!
He just didn't resign like he said he would.

He did Dennis. Then the national executive pleaded with him to come
back, which he reluctantly did.
