The 1948 John Wayne film Red River is available in a *colorized*
version. So it can be done.

Sounds like a low budget rework of flight of the Phoenix without the flight
bit but using an old tank picked up from an army surplus source.

You make it sound as if Flight of the Phoenix was a big-budget
blockbuster! I always thought of it as a low-budget film.

Though I admit that $5,355,000 or $3.8 million (as found in Wiki) was
quite a lot in 1965.

They actually built and flew the aircraft.
ISTR someone was killed flying it.

Yup. So they were.
