Default Gas Boilers

Slightly off topic, but does anyone have a view on the relaibility of
a 'British/Scottish Gas Potterton Precision High Efficiency Boiler'?

Or, for that matter Potterton boilers in general over the last few
years?

TIA

My 1999 Potterton Suprima 80 installed by Scottish Gas has been very
unreliable - several changes of PCB and other footling faults which cause it
to breakdown in cold weather. The Scottish Gas repair man last time
recommended a Worcester Bosch 24RI - reliable he said. The Suprimas have
been notorious.

Tho...

Once they've had one of Geoff Radens re-furbed PCBs therein they are a
lot better...

Anything involving British Gas is best avoided. Their installation work is usually sub-contracted out to local Gas Safe installers, who cut corners to turn a profit. Bargepole, with, touch, wouldn't. a: rearrange to form an appropriate phrase.

For example;

Potterton were formerly good, but are no longer. They've been trading on the good name for a long time. Vaillant, Viessmann and others are better.
