OT The 1970s

I am sure my Grandma once mentioned the 40's were worse than the 70's. Unsurprising given WW2. I unforget the 60s as being a time of looking forwards, then the 70s were downhill all the way, Not for me, I build my own house from scratch in the 70s, doing almost all the work myself while working full time too. except that I didn't notice much as I left home in '76, I'd left home long before that. before which it was Dad's problem, and the joys of floating living negated the worst of the strikes in the last few years of the decade. We didn't have anything like the same problem with strikes that you lot did. Then of course, the 80s arrived... I had my longest ever period of unemployment in '84. Six weeks of boredom and worry. Even the dog wasn't happy. Never had any unemployment myself. |
