Default Packard Bell recovery

Not OT 'cos we're doing it ourselves :-)

A friend's 18-month old PB computer has a faulty hard drive (confirmed
by Hitachi's own diagnostics). It's a 640GB drive and came partitioned
into two drives. He made the recovery DVD's when he first got the
machine so that's good. However, he's got a 500GB drive as the
replacement (he says that's big enough so fair enough).

If we start the recovery, will it all go as it should or will it throw
some sort of wobbly because it'll see a 500 instead of 640GB?

TIA

It'll be fine. At worst it'll want the same sized partition as the
original backup image (which is presumably 320GB.)

Best thing to do with a PB is lob it in the skip.

What have you got to lose by trying?

If it were me, I would simply get a Windows 7 home premium CD, assuming
that is the OS, and install that, using the serial number that should be
stuck to the machine, that way you wont get all the extra crap they will
no doubt bundle in the recovery media.

You will probably have to download the divers, it is usually best to get
the latest versions when doing a re-install anyway.
