Default garage frame fixings - into brick or mortar?

Should the fixings of a garage door frame go into the bricks themselves or
the mortar?

Thanks!

Bricks.

Do some test holes to see if your bricks are frog up or frog down and
then choose the location of your frame mounting holes so they go into
the solid brick away from the frog.

If you have the bricks with three holes instead of a frog then avoid
those holes.

Those bricks are a proper bloody nuisance :-(
