Default Gas Oven Control Switch jammed - Stoves 700GDO

Our gas oven - a Stoves model 700GDO has two controls, the one which
operates the Grill and upper oven is very stiff, when the oven is on
you require a pair of pliers to turn it off.

Any suggestions whats caused this fault ?

Anyone have a user manual fof Stoves or alink

...however, it looks like you need to dismantle the valve - so perhaps left
to a specialist.

Gas Cock Grease?
www.bes.co.uk carry it - probably by Dupont, not much required or at
least less than the previous idiot used on a gas fire.
