It has been patched badly, heavily corroded, mangled terminals, caused no end of problems over the past few years. I already have suitable tyco crimps & tool, just lack the cable. Options are - Ancor - UL1426 - Tinned - 105oC PVC - 4 AWG (19mm) - £8 - Lapp Kabel - H01N-2 - Bare copper - 85oC Neoprene PCP Rubber - 16mm - £5 - Generic - PVC Tinned copper - 70oC PVC - 16mm - £3 Price wise the first two have free postage, last item £4 postage. I am surprised people use 70oC PVC for automotive use, typically 105oC dominates. Conversely is H01N-2 rubber suitable, I thought that was welding? Using the UL1426 105oC 4AWG does require strands to be cut to convert AWG to Metric crimp. I think the 105 stuff for lower current is thinwall - and that doesn't apply to battery cable. My old Rover has approx 16mm plain copper stuff. Has survived some 25 years pretty well. Battery earth is uninsulated braided. Marine apps are usually tinned. -- *He who laughs last, thinks slowest.
