Default re camping gaz bottles.

I have a camping gaz bottle that holds six pounds of butane and it is
coloured blue.

Recently, my wife bought herself a new double burner and grill unit
which came with a regulator and pipe. The regulator, which is flattish
and about 2 to 3 inches in diam. and is marked up 28. This looks like
being a diaphragm type letting out gas at 28mB.

The bottle was originally bought for a double burner and grill about 40
years ago (tilly titan IIRC)and the regulator we used on it is about an
inch tall, disregarding the threaded parts and about 7/8 of an inch in
diam.
I have just tried blowing through it after opening the valve and there
is very little resistance.Does anyone know at what pressure the gas
comes out it?

You need to be aware that there is propane and there is butane and
there is the two mixed. These regulators can be adjusted if you take
the top off. Screwing the screw revealed IN increases pressure. Be
carefull there are no leaks when you put the top back on.

My question was not about this type, as I am quite familiar with how
they work.

My question was about the high pressure outlet of the one I could blow
throw when I opened the valve. What is the pressure of the gas flow
through it?

Regards

The outlet pressure is 28 mbar - the normal pressure for most butane
appliances in UK. Blowing through it should be like blowing through a
pin hole. Just a tiny hiss. If you blow backwards it should close
up.

Very simple to see if the regulator works, fire up both burners then
adjust one.

The regulator in front of me will pass my breath both ways and it has no
way of adjusting it. An earlier poster mentioned that the old burners
worked at full pressure. This pressure is what I am asking about, as my
blow torch was originally on a gas bottle that you could pick up and
hold. At the time, I was going through gas very fast, so adapted it to
connect, through a rubber pipe, to the butane 6lb bottle

The 28mB regulator is good for a modern camping gas burner for camping,
but not my blow torch, or my old two burner and grill camping stove.

Not sure if I still have it, but there is a 28 mB regulator I bought
some years ago, when I couldn't find my high pressure one and at the
time couldn't understand why my torch wouldn't work.

I hope this will clear things up, along with whatever other posters have
added and written.

Yes sorry I now see what you're getting at. You want to know what
pressure your old regulator is rated at.

I recently was after some adapters to get my German spec camper fridge
going and contacted http://www.socal.co.uk/ You might like to put your
query to them.

Many thanks for that.

I do several trips to Portsmouth, so I'll call in next time I am down there.
