Trying to find a supplier for those wire baskets with a lift up 'lid' that
go on the inside of a letterbox to correct the post. Anyone know what the correct name is? -- Dave - The Medway Handyman www.medwayhandyman.co.uk |

Anyone know what the correct name is? 'mail box' seems to work.... http://www.coxandcox.co.uk/products/wire-mail-box When shopping for one before Christmas I found "mail box" tended to bring up also a lot of the more solid sort (for external use) while "letter cage" gave me more of the wire thingies - eg ,http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&safe=off&q=%22letter%20cage%22&um=1 &ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf although these only collect the post. Not sure where you get the super intelligent ones that correct it! :-) I assumed that was the DIY Dave was going to add. Eg coating the wire with quantum entangled computronium driving nanobots? -- -- R |

They tend to result in large letters and newspapers being left sticking out of the door and hence liable to be stolen/indicate to burglars that no one's in. Chris |

Not ideal, but preferable to the alternative if you have a young dog in the house who gets to the post before you do. |

I don't want one at all :-) Customer in a phone shop wants a letter box & basket in an internal door so that mobiles for repair can be posted. No idea why they can't just open the door, but the customer is always right :-) Cos they might not be in perhaps ? |

I don't want one at all :-) Customer in a phone shop wants a letter box & basket in an internal door so that mobiles for repair can be posted. No idea why they can't just open the door, but the customer is always right :-) Surely baskets are a second-best solution. Make your own box for the back of the door. If necessary make back of perspex. Sloping lid hinged at the door edge will direct most letters etc. downwards into box. Did it decades ago to avoid paying an uncooperative delivery office to hold mail while we were on holiday. So successful I just left it there. |
