Default Where can I find one of these?

I have a new build house which has these new fangled euro energy saving
lights. One lamp went so I bought a new bulb but after putting it in it
didn't work so it looks like it's the lamp holder that is the problem (it's
not the switch as it switches 2 lights and the other one works fine. I
looked on TLC (where I got the bulb from) and can't find a holder. This is
the bulb http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/LADD13slash4P.html can anyone
direct me to a lamp holder, or at least tell me what it's called?

Thanks

Angela

The holder is unlikely to be faulty, it's probably the control gear within
the fitting. The cheapest option may be to replace the whole fitting, do
TLC have something similar?

Forgive me for being dim but what's the difference between the holder and
the whole fitting? The holder is quite a chunky thing and the bit that goes
into the ceiling is just the same as a standard pendant fitting. It's the
chunky thing the bulb sits in that I would have thought has gone.

I don't know if TLC has any, I don't know what I'm looking for. Short of
driving there and asking I don't know what to do. I thought I would do some
research on the internet before making a 7 mile journey.............if only
I knew what is was called.

Can't help with the name, but you could try a call to these people.

I've found them very helpful in the past. Been able to source some unusual
items through them.

The fitting is - however my friend suggests I get the developer to fix it -
worth a try I think!

The nice new uroregulation that makes builders fit fittings you can't
put normal lights in and can't find shades to fit. It is called
progress (and furious lobbying and purchasing of eurocrats and uroMP's
by Osram and others.).

Are you sure you got the right lamp? In the interests of
uroharmonisation they come in both 4 and 2 pin versions which are of
course incompatible.

You might be better off fitting a standard holder and getting the
urosubsidised standard CFL lamps for 10p each or whatever they are
being given away for at the moment.

What you've got there is similar in principle to an ordinary tube
fluorescent fitting - the tube isn't the only part that can fail. Within
the fitting is electronic control gear - and it sounds like that is the
problem.

Not really feasible as I would have to change both lights and then get new
shades - have you seen the price of lamp shades at the m oment????

Bugger. Was out when the postie called today and he left a thingie for
something that needed signing for. So can't go and collect it tomorrow.
And Saturday will be mayhem there. It's probably my upgrade to Win7.

If the developer etc will not fit it for free, rather than paying £17
(which is nuts) fit an MK Shockguard pendant & ceiling rose. This
takes standard BC energy saving lights (free-25-400p) and isolate the
terminals when you unplug the bulb.
