Default Aquapanel - joint tape really required ?

In the middle of an en-suite refurb, and this time i'm putting my foot
down and using aquapanel rather than plasterboard (long story, but
lets just say someones' attempt to "save me money" went tits-up when a
joint started to piddle water on a previous revamp elsewhere)...

Now back to the question - B&Q didn't have any of the joint tape in
stock, but from the description on the Wickes site, it doesn't seal
the joint as such, it just strengthens it - since the wall is going to
be tiled and not subject to much stress anyway, is it really necessary
to tape the joints ?

TIA :-}

If it's like the marmox tape, it's a bit like plasterboard scrim tape?

In your case, how about just filling the joint with silicone?

I think it's a fibreglass version of scrim tape, effectively...

....now there's an idea !

It's just like ordinary scrim tape but very much stronger. I really
can't say whether it's 'necessary' but personally I wouldn't want to
spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar - and bear in mind that surely any
wall made of aquapanel is going to be tiled, isn't it?

It is - my problem is getting hold of the stuff locally (ish) - there
were supposed to be 4 rolls in my local B&Q but I had 4 members of
staff scratching their heads trying to figure out where it's aisle
number that existed per the stock code was in the store - none of them
had ever heard of it.

A few random leg-ups by staff to check higher shelves managed to
locate me some of the ceramic coated screws, but no tape...

Well... things moved on slightly from yesterday - I got out the house
by 6:50am to shoot to a B&Q Warehouse (Warrington) and got some tape.

I left my dad with clear instructions on where the Aquapanel was in
the St Helens store, along with the size and stock code number.

Came home tonight, he'd:

a) picked up the thermal *floor* tile stuff - also the wrong size
b) fitted it (not sure how, possibly fscking expanding foam) - "I
thought it was a bit flexible"
c) chased out the wall behind for pipework
d) ignored the fact that the shower tray was 1200x900mm and the gap
was ~1350mm wide - so the wall he chased out actually needs to be
studded out to the right width, and would accomodate the pipework -
unless he has some other bright fscking idea on how to fill up a 15cm
gap the other end that you couldn't possibly get in to clean

Not too impressed at the mo, considering i'd told him what I wanted
doing on monday, tuesday, and this morning.

*note: i'm paying him for this fsck up !
